Hi, This is my first time to visit Bali. My family and I are going to stay in a villa. but we want it to be closed to all tourist activity such as beach, shopping places, good restaurants etc. Can anyone give me recommendations? Thanks.

TripAdvisor & BaliTravelPortal

I agree with Nalisa's note -- thanks for posting!

Both TripAdvisor (www.tripadvisor.com) and BaliTravelPortal (www.balitravelportal.com) are good sources of information about the various destinations on the island. They cover a lot more ground than this site as we are focused exclusively on Villa accommodations.

Good ares for eating and shopping

I recommend you to stay around Seminyak or Laksmana area. Seminyak has a number of restuarants but many of them are middle level. The only one 5-star cuisine I knew in this area is Sip. However, the shops around Seminyak are very interesting and stylish. Good shopping in this area.

Laksmana is the main area for nice dining and night club. Shopping is Ok.

Kuta area is not recommended. It is too crowded and suitable for low-budget travelling. But if you interested in surfing, body boarding, water booming, blowing, this location can be good for you. There are also a lot of restaurants and night club in this area. But I'm not sure if you can experience real Bali from this area. It is more like pataya and  patong beach in Phuket, Thailand.

When will you come to Bali?  Maybe I can recommend the events/activity during that period to you.

Cheers,

Nalisa
